Manual Handling
Practical Manual Handling Training Designed for Real Workplaces
Everyone has heard the old advice: “Keep your back straight and bend your knees.”
But real workplaces aren’t classrooms.
Most jobs involve awkward loads, confined spaces, repetitive tasks, uneven environments, and operational pressures that require far more practical and realistic guidance.
That’s why we teach something different.
Our manual handling training is designed around your actual workplace, helping staff understand how to reduce risk while carrying out real tasks safely and efficiently.
See Our Approach In Action
We focus on practical movement principles that can actually be applied in the real world. Not generic lifting demonstrations with empty cardboard boxes.
Built Around Your Workforce
We don’t deliver generic “off the shelf” manual handling courses.
Our training is tailored around:
-
your tasks
-
your working environment
-
your equipment
-
your operational challenges
This helps make the training more engaging, relevant, and practical for your workforce.
Training Needs Analysis
Before training begins, we can carry out a Training Needs Analysis to review the tasks currently being carried out within your workplace.
This includes reviewing:
-
working environments
-
handling activities
-
lifting aids and equipment
-
repetitive strain risks
-
challenging or high-risk tasks
Following the assessment, we provide a written report highlighting potential musculoskeletal risks and identifying areas that should be prioritised during training delivery.
This can also support your wider health and safety risk assessment process.
Instructor-led Manual Handling Training
Our instructors deliver practical, engaging training sessions built around the findings from your Training Needs Analysis and the real tasks your teams carry out daily.
Training includes:
-
short, relatable theory sessions
-
practical movement guidance
-
lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling techniques
-
task-specific demonstrations
-
workplace-based practical exercises
The practical element takes place within the working environment wherever possible, helping delegates apply techniques directly to their own job roles.
Delegates are encouraged to ask questions, discuss challenges, and work through real workplace tasks throughout the session.

We understand operational pressures can make releasing large groups difficult.
Training can therefore be delivered flexibly around your business requirements.
